The Melting Soul

I am responsible for all aspects of this creature. Working on The Melting Soul was quite a change of pace for me, but I had so much fun doing so. The Melting Soul is an original concept, sculpted as well as poly-painted in Zbrush. The eyes were textured using Substance Painter. Painter was also used to add some extra texture detail on top of the poly-paint I had established on the rest of the creature. The final render was done using Marmoset Toolbag.

For reference and inspiration I gathered creepy, scary, and downright unsettling images from horror films and TV shows, as well as from other genres and real life creatures. What ultimately sparked the idea for The Melting Soul creature was the melting face scene from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
